ITINERARY


Day 1: Delhi

You will be met at the International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Delhi. Rest of the day sightseeing in Delhi. Sights to be visited (will depend on time) are India Gate, Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk and Raj Ghat (the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi) and Rajpath.  Overnight stay In Delhi.

Day 2: Udaipur

Transfer to the airport for an early morning flight to Udaipur (1.5 hours). On arrival, transfer to your hotel in the Old City, overlooking Lake Pichola. In the afternoon, explore the lane-ways of the Old City. 

Udaipur, also known as the City of Lakes, is one of India’s most picturesque cities. Palaces surround the city, the most famous being The Lake Palace, which covers an entire island and was featured in the James Bond film Octopussy. The city was founded in 1559 and was the capital of the Mewar kingdom. There’s no doubt you’ll enjoy this relaxing, seductive city.

Relax on your orientation walk of this beautiful city so you can get your bearings. Late afternoon we gather to board our boat for a late afternoon cruise around Lake Pichola and sunset cocktails on Jagmandir Island Palace.  Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 3: Udaipur

After breakfast, we visit the massive City Palace.  The rest of the the day at leisure to stroll the streets around the old city.

Depart from the hotel approximately 6pm for Bagore-ki-Haveli, near Gangaur Ghat in the heart of the old city to see a one hour local dance performance. After the dance performance, enjoy dinner at a roof top restaurant overlooking the stunning Lake Pichola, the City Palace and enjoy the sweeping views and many treasures housed inside. Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 4: Khempur

After spending a leisurely breakfast overlooking Lake Pichola, leave for your next destination – "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” in a small town called Khempur, where the film was shot. Check in and spend the late afternoon strolling through this small village and sampling some of local life. Overnight stay in Khempur.

Day 5: Khempur

Spend today quietly around the local village and the hotel. Take the time to contemplate where Judi Dench or Maggie Smith (actresses from the movie) might have enjoyed their ‘post lunch’ chai or indulge yourself by relaxing and have a massage. Overnight stay in Khempur.

Day 6: Jodhpur

After breakfast travel to Jodhpur, arriving in the late morning (5 hours) and settling into your hotel.

Jodphur is known as the “Blue City” owing to the many blue houses with the backdropof the Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest in India.  Why not head to Sadar Bazaar, one of the oldest markets in India, for handicrafts and antiques.  The diversity of what’s on offer is impressive.  Overnight stay in Jodphur

Day 7: Jodhpur

Start the day off right with a delicious Omelette and a famous Makhani lassi, one of many Indian delicacies that originated in Jodphur before heading to the Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest in India, to take in the sweeping view of the city.  

You can either have the late afternoon free or attend a cooking class at a local family’s house and sample your cooking with traditional Indian spices (taste the difference).  Overnight stay in Jodhpur. 

Day 8: Jaipur

Morning drive to Jaipur. We’ll travel to from the Blue City to the Pink City in the morning by car reaching the capital of Rajasthan in the mid afternoon. 

Arrive mid afternoon in Jaipurand check into your hotel. Late afternoon and evening shopping at one of the many bazaars, the Pink City is famous for.   Evening dinner at Peacock Rooftop Restaurant where you will experience exquisite local food and the magic and colour of the Pink City at night.  Overnight stay in Jaipur.

 Day 9: Jaipur Sightseeing

After breakfast, visit hillside Amber Fort, the ancient capital of the state; unique elephant ride (or an alternative Jeep ride) ascent to the fort high on thehill, Amber fort was built in 1592 and its’ name is said to derive from the many jewels that are used for decoration inside.

After visiting the fort, you’ll have an opportunity to visit a textile and block printing factory as well as a visit to the Hawa Mahal, City Palace or more shopping opportunities in one of the many bazaars; or for something completely different, check out a Bollywood film at the famous Raj Mandir cinema.

Shree Digamber Jain Temple which is one of the historical places of Rajasthan. Shri Digamber Jain temple Sanghiji is a jewel of town. This is an old temple, represents the ancient style of architecture completed in many phases, with the last phase of this spectacular temple completed in 10th century A.D.  Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 10: Agra

After breakfast leave for Agra.  On the way have morning tea at the Viceroy Club well known on the movie now the “Second Best Marigold Hotel” (locally known as the Narain Niwas Palace).  Arrive in Agra early afternoon and check into your hotel.  Leave for the Taj Mahal for sunset.  The Taj Mahal is India’s most-photographed monument, and today you’ll see why. Built between 1632 and 1653 in memory of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan’s third wife, the Taj Mahal is world-renowned and widely admired as a wonderful photo opportunity.    Overnight stay in Agra.

Day 11: Delhi

Leave after an early breakfast for Delhi.  Afternoon at leisure for last minute shopping. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 12: Tour End

Your tour arrangement ends after breakfast.  Spend the day relaxing in Delhi to prepare for your evening flight.
